One thing I will never stop thanking the Lord for, is the gift of an enterprising mind that wants to do exploits.

Back in 2000, I had a dream of establishing a Sound Engineering school in Botswana but a calamity struck it off, when the man that I was looking up to passed on. The dream.was shuttered.

It was later in 2010 that the vision showed up, now with a bang. This was when I was studying at AFDA Cape town. I was extremely convinced that the AFDA pedagogy is what our nation needed most especially after AFDA immensely contributed during the foundation of the creative industry in South Africa.

Botswana is polarized by Mzansi Africa and for sure anything that worked for them stood a chance of succeeding especially when fused with some local taste.

Thanks be to God, the dream came to pass in 2015 when we established AFDA Botswana.

The idea of starting a Film, Television and Live Performance School in Botswana was conceived by Mr Tsholofelo Ntshingane. He sold the idea to me at the start of 2014, which I embraced, and together we started working on it with vigour. We approached The South African School of Motion Picture Medium and live Performance (PTY) LTD trading as AFDA for some form of collaboration since they had the skill and experience of running the kind of business we wanted to embark upon.

AFDA Botswana (PTY) LTD trading as AFDA Botswana, was ultimately registered in 2014, initially consisting of AFDA (South Africa) and Academy of Motion Picture Medium and Creative Expressions (PTY) LTD trading as Awil College, as equal partners. AFDA Botswana, The School of Motion Picture Medium and live Performance was registered with the Botswana Qualifications Authority (BQA) in June 2015, and started operating two months later.

Academy of Motion Picture Medium and Creative Expressions (PTY) LTD recently acquired all the shares in AFDA Botswana, thus rendering the Institution wholly citizen-owned.
