Graduation Film Festival

According to the AFDA curriculum when a student graduates with BA or BA(Honors) in Motion Picture Medium or Live Performance they should have been part of a production that has been shown in front of an audience at a cinema. AFDA Botswana final year students-undergraduates and postgraduates are working tirelessly at the moment on their exit or graduation films.

The undergraduates are producing a 24-minute Tele-novela, which is a pilot episode of a series. While the postgraduates are producing a 24-minute film that is influenced by the theme of their documentaries produced last term. There are 8 Tele-novelas for undergrads and 6 films for postgraduates. The students are put into groups with each student assigned a specific role according to their academic major.

The films will be showcased at New Capitol Cinemas at Riverwalk Mall in Gaborone on July 8th and 9th 2019. Members of the public are invited to buy tickets which are currently on sale at P20.00 per film. Film industry experts are also invited to come and appreciate future filmmakers and scout for talent. The students will be present at the showcasing to answer questions about their production and also mingle and network with industry experts.

Theatre Festival

Final year students who are graduating in Bachelor Of Arts in Live Performance are staging an experimental theatre piece each group at a theatre festival hosted by the school as part of their exit project. The festival will be held at the AFDA Botswana campus on the 12 of July 2019 at 1500hrs. There are 5 groups of around 8 students that are expected to stage a 1-hour piece each.

The theatre pieces are based on an extension of their existing stage pieces that they performed last semester. Members of the public are invited to come and support our graduating students and appreciate their talent. Theatre experts from the industry will be invited to come and scout for talent and also offer advice and constructive criticism. The festival is open to the public and fellow students at a cost of only P50.00 per theatre.
